First Day

Yes, it's me. Be very careful of what you ask for on this forum, it's very likely you'll be put in charge of it!

We were actually planning a blast off Thursday about 4am. I'll have the wife in an RV chasing me and we want to get to NM well before dusk. We'll be taking 287/87 through Dalhart then to Cimmaron Canyon SP, NM. We'll be heading to Paonia, CO the next morning so it looks like we'll see you there.

Riding down 80

I'm leaving Ann Arbor in the vicinity of 5:00AM on the 10th,
Hope to be by Chicago by 9:00 local time, maybe earlier,
and to Des Moines mid-afternoon. Then on up to the Missouri,
probably staying at the Lewis and Clark park off of 29 headed
to Souix City (unless I'm making particularly good time). So
my question is two-fold:
a) is there some heavy construction going on 80 west, and
b) what's the likelyhood of being passed (or passing, I
suppose) any of you listeners out there. Let me know,
I'll be looking...

Yes, there is some construction on 80 in Indiana. It all hits the fan at about milepost 21. You will miss alot of it by getting onto 80 at Exit 16. However 80 is a little bumpy and traffic sucks. I would recommend you try to get to Chicago either a lot earlier like 7AM or later like 11AM so that you miss the rush hour fun.

Well, this is it, we break our umbilical to the internet and head out at oh-dark-thirty in the a.m. :yow The RV is packed, the LT is ready and the excitement/anticipation is at an all time high. I hope to meet some of you at The Top O'the Rockies Rally this weekend

Easy ride from Fair Oaks, CA. In a motel, I'm a first timer so thought it would be easier, might try camping next time...
