2025 Grand Coddiwomple registration now open

Yes, you won't be able to upload directly so you will need to use a public image hosting service like Flickr or SmugMug. I've used Flickr in the past but if I was to start over from scratch I might choose SmugMug now. If I intended to publicly present ALL of my photography over the next many years it looks like it would "work better". I've seen a couple nice presentations there, while Flickr can look a little "dated". But Flickr works quite well for hosting a few Coddiwomple pictures. Not sure what other hosting sites are available.
Good luck, ride a lot, and have a ton of fun.

Thanks. I have Flickr, but I’ve maxed out my free storage. I can upload more content, but then I pushes old content to where you need a paid membership to access. Of course, do I need to save all the photos from my 2019 Germany trip?

Can you use the Media section on the MOA site.

I did not realize the MOA site had this function. Thanks for pointing it out!
It does have function to create a link that the Coddiwomple site requires and a quick browse show a 2022 Coddiewomple album by MOA member Schatzi.. What I did not see was how much storage capacity was available. The Schatzi album only had 22 photos in it and most only had single digit quantities.

Another option is to use Goggle Photos. If your main account does not have capacity you can always create a separate account just for the Coddie pics.

Did you put them on the MOA site?

Not BMW related. These are backed up to redundant external drives and optical media. I doubt anyone wanted to view them on Flickr after 5 years. I used Flickr to enable me to post about my trip without needing to add every photo to the website I was posting on.

Just curious...what happens to all those hot links to your Flickr account that you have posted around the internet now that you've cleaned up your account? Does that mean "red X" boxes show up in their place? By uploading them to the MOA server, doesn't that add some longer life to those images?

Well, I suppose the links to the albums will 404. Again, it’s been over 5 years, so I don’t expect it to be an issue. I try to avoid loading too much media directly on individual websites, and I know some forums have to purge old media from topics every now and then to free up space.

I suppose...space is a dime-a-dozen these days. Personally, it frustrates me when I visit a forum, etc., and find missing information that I was hopefully looking for to solve my situation.

One forum I go to has a subforum for important topics worth preserving. I would expect anything in the forum is automatically retained where stuff in other forums (e.g., cat photos) are deemed expendable if needed to reclaim storage space.

I've been using SmugMug for over 15 years with over 21K photos and videos uploaded. My stats show over 24K views this month but that's mostly me posting photos on ADVrider etc.

For me it's been an excellent place to store photos and uploading them on various forums and the Coddiwomple is pretty seamless.

Yes it's a pay site but well worth it to me for the security and the convenience.

I don't think you can for the Coddiwomple - At least you can 't post an image link to a photo shared in a forum post.

Google Photos, iCloud, OneDrive, SmugMug, and many others provide the ability to share a public link to an image. The requirement is that it *MUST* be a publicly available image. If it's inside the forum environment, it might not be viewable to someone without logging into the forum. (I bumped into this last year.)

The Media section is not part of the forum, it's part of the MOA website.
I don't know if a password is needed to view a picture in the Media section.
I believe the website is available to guests.

Edit: When I go to the MOA Website I can't see the Media section.

I tried visiting the media section in a new browser (not logged in) and it appears that it will work.

I know I’m probably being pendantic, but….

Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On Challenge - 50 points each. Unlimited submissions.
Sun Studio in Memphis TN is arguably the birthplace of Rock-and-roll, country and rockabilly music. From its role in the career of Elvis Presley to recording the first rock-and-roll single (Jackie Brenston's Rocket 88), Sun Studio and later Sun Records left an undeniable mark on the global music landscape. In honor of the accomplishments and history of Sam Phillips, the proprietor and founder of both Sun Studio and Sun Records, please submit photographic proof of visit to Places named or containing Phillips, Presley, Brenston, Parker, Perkins, Orbison, Feathers, Lewis, Justis, Twitty, Cash, King, Eaton, Turner, Roberts, Riley, Rhodes, Carroll, or Clement.

“Presley Cleaners” vs. “Elvis Presley Art Museum.” Just the last name needed?

Yes, I tend to overthink things.

Might want to double check the rules... "photographic proof of visit to Places named or containing" means cities, towns, or villages recognized by the gov't controlling the area... Section 4.a., but I'm unable to access the pages from my 'puter right now to be able to give you a link.

Ah…you are correct. I’m confusing sites with places. The challenge is wanting municipalities.

I've got a question... maybe one of you can answer this one: Does the bike in our pictures have to be a BMW? I know, seems obvious, BMWMOA and all, but a buddy and I have a long multi-day ride planned for later this year and I'm not going to ride any of the older BMWs but take the new HD instead. We will have a few challenge photo-opps along the way that would be nice to grab. I know I can always use my face/flag combination, but how about my HD/flag combination? I think the rules just state "your bike and your flag".
