I took my 1999 R1100RT out for an unusually warm February ride last week and found the front brakes to be making more noise than usual. The stopping power was good.
Previously, they only made noise when backing up. Now even while braking there was some noise. I had cleaned the bobbins a bit when I put it to bed last fall. Compared to Chris Harris' video my rotors aren't anywhere near as bad as his example. No up and down motion. The question I have for you is how much noise do you put up with, and how did the noise progress until you made the change? These are my front brakes so I don't want to mess around. But $500 for the EBC's from the Boneyard is something I'd like to do only when prudent.
Here's a video of me moving the rotors. I go up and down and side-to-side. I'd love your thoughts!
