I never met him in person, and yet he pm'ed me

My life has been better from getting to know him, meeting him a half dozen times, talking on the phone, and exchanging countless PM's over the last 4 years. I'm sure that many of you could show an inbox that looks like mine.

Paul called me "Marine". I can't ever remember him calling me by name, but then, we only met a few times; West Bend and Gillette. We became "friends" during the "Tavern" days. He was always sending pm's with a joke, comment, or cartoon. For almost a year, I'd have a pm from him every morning telling me to "get out of the rack, Marine!" It was a great way to start my day.

Yes, he will be missed.

Tom

Paul was there when we arrived at the RA in Vermont this past July on a Monday afternoon. He was very helpful in getting us setup and letting us know where the good food was. He helped us with questions throughout the rally and seemed to be really enjoying himself as much as we enjoyed getting to know him and his help. To his family, we are so sorry for your loss and sorry that we will not have the opportunity to get to know him even better. He will be missed.

I met Paul at a few rallies and will always remember his congeniality, his way of getting us to contribute to the "Touring Tips" column and his never ending enthusiasm promoting MOA rallies, club rallies, the Salty Fog Rallies and of course, this year's RA Rally, both before and after each event. He seemed tireless. My sincere sympathy goes out to his family.

Paul was a loved and admired man. The outpouring of support in these last weeks is testament to that.

He had a great run. An extremely interesting and successful life and he lived it large, right to the end.

I'm not sure you can ask for more than that.........

We'll sure miss him.........Rest in Peace Chief!

His infectious humor and mischievious grin will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He often referred to himself as "just a poor old country boy trying to make his way" and he always made me laugh. He was a natural teacher and there is much that I learned....and alot more that I wish I could learn from him.
I was lucky to see him this week in the hospital. He struggled to breathe at times, but he looked comfortable. His walls were plastered with pictures of his family and grandchildren, in the hope they would be the first things he saw when he regained consciousness. There wasn't a sad face on any of them and I think I'll remember his great, big teddybear grin forever. He was a one-off, original, good guy. No doubt he's promoting the first Big Gig in Heaven already. Love ya, man. Peace.

I'm sure Judy and daughters Patty and Pam would appreciate your personal notes and reminicences of Paul. The address is: 145 Juniper Dr., Ballston Spa, NY 12020

Latest Update:

The family wanted to update everyone on the arrangements to honor Paul.

We will be having a private funeral and burial this week. In a few weeks, we will be having a memorial celebration that we would love to see all of his friends at. Dad always said he wanted to have a big party and that is what we are going to do.

In lieu of flowers we are asking for donations to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, a charity Dad was very passionate about. You may reach their website at http://www.pbtfus.org.

Thank you for all of your love and support.

Judy, Pam and Patty

With all the wonderful memories posted here, has anyone thought of printing them in a book of some sort to give to Paul's family?

I don't know them personally but would be willing to assist with such a project if deemed appropriate.

I contacted Muriel several days ago, thinking she might be attending the services for Paul (given her geography) and suggested that very thing to her in a PM.

Hope something along these lines work out - Paul's family needs to see how positively infectious this man was among us. :violin

I found them...

Even though I never met Paul, I felt like I knew him, and it was obvious that he was a class act.

I recall corresponding with him some years ago, and, checking my messages this morning, there they were, a few e-mails back in the spring of '07.

My condolences to the family and his many friends.

I just got home from the Finger Lakes Rally a couple hours ago and just saw Kevin's PM. Yes, that is a good idea to collect the comments and give them to the family. It shall be done :)

Paul's loss is beginning to hit me now - I have been flat out since I heard the sad news Thursday night.

I thought of Paul as I rode through "his neck of the woods" in New York. Many people asked about him at the FLR, and everyone had positive things to say about him.

One of the BMW MOV members is creating a collage of pictures of Paul for our Green Mountain Rally this weekend. It will be the first time our club will be gathering since Paul's passing. The collage, too, will go to Paul's family.

He leaves a big hole in the BMW world, too.

Muriel

Paul was a major inspirer, 'idea generating machine' and a friend of ours. For the last few years my telephone conversations with him were always full of ideas, comments, perceptions and enthusiasm. He was instrumental in kick starting and supporting our little Salty Fog Riders Rally here in Nova Scotia. A special piece dedicated to Paul will now be a part of our ride up here. We will miss him very much.

As I sit here in Larry's River, Nova Scotia, gazing down the river into the bay a song keeps looping in my head. Paul took many pictures of these calm and beautiful waters and the following song seems to fit the moment. For now it will have to do..... -Bob
