Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2024 dates announced

DGR report:
The Tampa "Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (6/2/2024) finally had good weather to kick it off. over 200 riders (many BMW riders, next to Triumph the most!) gathered over $30,000 of donations toward Men's Mental Health and Prostate Cancer research. Great fun driving through Downtown Tampa and St. Pete and never stopping for lights or intersections...I mean on purpose :)

Ummm, yeah Dave I'd say you'd did alright :)
Not sure what the global total was, but it's undoubtedly well into the millions raised.

We need to be a part of this event because it benefits basically our member profile.

Perhaps we can promote the cities early enough next year to get some interest.

Get the bulk of the members/non-members off the other social media (Facebook) platforms and on to the forum and start some planning?

First rule of marketing is to find them where they are, so we'd want to run this like we do our raffles and other marketing; across all media we're on.

In my humble opinion.

I think it'd be nice to give something back, as a club, to the community that comprises a majority of our members - men. We do a little of that with the 50/50 at the national for the local charity we pick. But aside from that, we don't contribute much back to the larger communities we live in. We have the MOA Foundation, of course, but nothing that is expressly put together to help folks outside of BMW riders. At least as far as I can see. We seem to avoid these kind of events.

After spending a few years volunteering for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in the wake of my wife's cancer, it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life - directly giving to a community. In that case it was blood cancer research and direct support of cancer patients. I was struck by how I'd been part of the MOA for like 15 years at that point and that wasn't ever part of what we did - helping the folks we share a planet with. We were, how do I say this nicely, "inwardly focused".

Who knows? You might meet some fun folks that ride bikes other than BMW. I did and now I have a bunch of new Instagram friends that ride other marques, all in my neck of the woods.
