Neglected Bike Adopter
For anyone who's researching this like I was a few months ago, I hope this is helpful. I wasn't able to actually find this info anywhere other than some very old forum threads without pictures and figured I'd document it myself.
The three bar-ends I have on hand are: the stock steel weight from my 1997 R850R, a used brass weight from an R1100S, and an HVMP "heavy" stainless steel bar-end weight. The stock weight is 252 grams, the weight from the R1100S is 412 grams, and the HVMP is 401 grams. HVMP says that the one I have is the heaviest they offer for my bike.
I have had all three installed over the last few months and the effect with the R1100S weights and the HVMP weights is about the same; both are noticeably better at reducing vibration than the stock weights.
It is also important to note that the R1100S weights do not fit my bike correctly and they leave a significant gap between the end of the grips and the start of the weights. The counterbore at the handlebar end is not deep enough to sit correctly even though they do mount without issue. I had ordered them as a temporary measure until I could get hold of the HVMP set.
