I agree, but when I replaced my ABS module a few years ago it required the dealer to pair it to my bike. While it functioned "unpaired", certain options such as cruise control didn't until it was paired. I located some more information after my initial post that seems to indicate that any type of dealer pairing is not required. The GS911 and/or dealer would be only necessary to recalibrate the shock. When ESA or Ride Modes are involved I think a key element is that both were set to the same settings when removed or installed. I don’t know why GS911 or dealer flashing would be needed, so long as settings match and both bikes were originally configured with the same suspension options.
The aftermarket shock vendors I’ve used were pretty specific on how they wanted shock adjustments set before removal—but that was also part of transferring the ESA hardware to the new shock.
best,
DeVern
