Tools Question

There's been some talk of the Torx vs. Torx Plus bits over in the Wetheads, so I decided it's time to update my big toolbox a little bit...
Does anybody know if MAYHEW tools are actually "good" stuff? That seems to be the only brand available around here.
(No I haven't "researched" other sources very much; Home Depot has the Mayhew set, neither Lowe's, the local FLAPs, nor Ace has anything).
Thanks!

Made in USA (MA). The company profile looks first rate.

Socket Bit Sets - TORX plus®

Made from S2 Tool Steel with proprietary heat treat for superior strength and durability, Mayhew's socket bits have a precision tip profile for positive and precise fastener engagement. A titanium nitride coating provides added strength and wear resistance. All bit sets feature a convenient color coded storage rail that keeps them organized, easily identified, and ready for use. Available in a range of sizes and styles.

I may have a few wrenches, or they may be Williams? No real experience although I like well made and well fitting tools that have a perfect fit as I have had to take out enough rounded out hardware in my day.
Let us know how you make out.

Thank you both! I'll wait a bit (pun intended) before placing an order, just to learn what else is available. 🔩⚙️

Mayhew is a good brand. I use to sell Mac tools and they made some tools for Mac. Any sockets made in China were not worthy. Taiwan made sockets-drivers were just as good as American made.

Ya, I've had a few Chinese tool "experiences"... I'm definitely leaning toward American-made! :usa

The actual shape is just a little bit different...
also w/ text below the toob...

also

My new Mayhew set showed up - looks like a quality kit, now to find sumpthin' to use 'em on... 🛠️

I don't know about older BMW's, but the only bolt on modern BMW bikes that might be a Torx Plus is the rear drive fill plug. And even for that, there seems to be varied opinions whether it is a truly a Torx Plus or not, as it's shape could be either. A Torx Plus of one size fits, as does a Torx of the next larger size. I use a Torx Plus myself for that bolt.

You must mean DRAIN plug. The fill plug is not even a torx. You "might" be able to remove the drain plug with a standard torx bit, but it will be tight and risk stripping the plug. A torx plus will not fit a standard torx bolt. Look closely at the brake and clutch res
covers, one side is torx, the other torx plus.

Sorry, rear-end drain plug.

And if i remember correctly, I think the debate is whether it's a T45P or a T50. Both fit, but neither convincingly - hence the debate.

Thanks for that little bit of education. Off the top of my head I know only one of my bikes has 1 Torx bolt for the throttle position sensor on the carb. Not sure if my other KTM is the same.
