How do I remove the headlight assembly...........

On my 2009 R1200RT. I am looking to install a Cyclops High Beam or similar product and I am told that unless I remove said assembly, the installation is a bitch.

Many thanks for any help and in particular, pictures.

You might try...

I haven't looked for this particular detail, and it will cost you a few bucks, but you may want to look for and snag a copy of Jim Von Baden's R1200xx DIY maintenance CD. I've got a copy, and the stuff I've needed to do is all well-outlined on the CD.

I just "lost" a headlamp bulb on my '08RT (I think that and your '09 are very similar in that regard) and I'm not looking forward to getting in there and changing the bulb. Last time I did that, I came out with my hand and lower arm looking like I had just spent the weekend sorting wildcats.

I too have been leaning toward getting a set of those Cyclops lights - maybe I should just bite the bullet and make this the time...

Best wishes!

Marty

If you have the RepROM, the procedure is explained.
The windshield support arms do not need to be removed in order to remove the headlight assembly

RepRom is the fancy name for the factory service manual.

Sort of required equipment for doing much work yourself on your motorcycle.
