What modifications have you done?

'03 Gt

Stealth backrest from Pirates Lair
Sidestand footpad
XM Satellite Radio with Hoon mount on brake fluid reservoir
Extra accessory plug on left dashboard part of fairing, just behind the windscreen
Oversize bags
Caliper-mounted MotoLights
3M black reflectorized tape on rear of both sets of bags
Marsee tank bag
RKA bag liners

Is it spring yet?

Cliff gets a mod!

Yup, I couldn't stand riding such a stock weasel-assed bike any longer. I lusted for add-ons and modifications. So I went ahead and installed TWO (not just one) blue Tireflys from Aerostich.
They are little strobe lights activated by movement and the look really coolio. Would post a pic, but every time I get the bike going with the lights flashing I am afraid to jump off and take a picture.

Have Julie take the picture... :stick

Just got my 1200GS 2 weeks ago. Haven't done much.

  • Adjust and tune the suspension from stock.
  • Cortech sport tail bag.
  • Removed some reflectors.
  • Cleaned up the license plate bracket. Good ol' Dremel tool.
  • Removed the rear tire hugger.

So finally, my question. What different modifications have you guys/gals done to your bikes?

Not so much modifications, but additions to both my R1150 GS Adventures...

- BMW System Cases and Mounts.
- Giva E52 Maxi top case mounted on an owner fabricated GiVi custom topcase mount.
- 3M High Grade Prismatic Reflective Sheeting was installed behind the reflectors of my GiVi E52 Maxia top case.
- Hella FF50 driving lights mounted on a TerraNova light bar.
- AutoSwitch and Blue Sea Systems 5025 fuse block.
- custom installation of a RAM Ball to mount my Garmin GPS and various other RAM accessories. I installed a 2nd RAM Ball so that I could also attach a camera.
- Datel LCD digital voltage panel meter.
- YUASA Battery Analyzer attached to the battery to facilitate charging and hook-up of my Gerbings electric gear.
- cigarette lighter outlet for powering electronic devices.
- digital ambient air temperature gauge.
- BMW anti-tamper oil filler plug.
- drilled the centerstand pivots so that they could be greased with a cone tipped grease gun, similar to the sidestand.
- 3M Stone Guard applied to the front surfaces of the wide GS Adventure gas tank.
- 3M Stone Guard applied to the frontal surfaces of those nice anodized GS Adventure forks.
- oil radiator bug screen owner fabricated out of black fiberglass screening.
- custom stone/mud guard attached to the front engine protection bar and skid plate. View it at GS Adventure Stone/Mud Guard
- spares: low octane coding plug, oil filler cap and O-ring, oil sight glass, fuel quick-disconnect O rings.

And a "Japanschrott - Nein Danke!" as well as a "Corsica Ferries 06" sticker on the rear mud deflector.

I recently changed bikes, ok 2 1/2 months ago, and transferred most of the stuff from my 04 RT to my 05 LT.
Sofar I have done;
Motolights,
Piaa 910 on BMR brackets under the mirror,
Sylvania Silverstar bulb on low beam, H9 doesn't exist yet,
Autocom,
GPS,
Electronic deerwhistle, flame me but it saved my Heiney twice. :clap
These previous items came from my 'old' bike.

New stuff added;
Rick Meyer seat, soon to be here I hope,
BMR luggage shelf, had one on the RT and it rocks :thumb
XM radio.
That will be all too as the LT is pretty loaded as is :D

Mods on new BMW

The only mod I put on the R1100RS that I bought new in 1994 was a taller windscreen. I think most riders personalize their bikes to varying degrees.
BTW, my former bike was exactly like Kbasa's pilfered RS.

Hmmm. When I was buying the new bike to replace the wreck, I made a to do list to get it ready to ride. Usually these things evolve, but not this time. I was getting the same model, a K12RS. I was a bit surprised how much work I had to do. And my Ortho Doc was a bit surprised how dirty my cast was.

Bike had heated grips and cruise control eliminating 2 things I needed to do.

Airhawk (that was easy)
2 sets of driving lights (wow look at all those wires)
Gerbings back-up power supply (battery connector)
Widder back-up power supply (battery connector)
Additional power outlet
Shelf for radar detector
Power cleanser (for the next item)
CB
CB no ground plane antenna
Wiring for Autocom
Held waterproof tank bag
EZ Pass (placement important)
Hyperlights
IronButt plate

Non-Mod ergo's:
Lower bars

To do yet:
Givi top box, had one on the old bike.
Tank bag electrification kit (salvaged from old bike)

Maybe one day:
Shocks, wilbers or Ohlins

new poster here. 99' R1100RT:

aeoroflow headlight protector
piaa driving lights
piaa extreme white headlight bulb
deer whistles (don't laugh, haven't hit a deer in 75k miles)
pin striped at midland rally

steel brake lines
accessory shelf
radar detector
street pilot lll gps
wrist rest
front and rear works shocks
k&n air filter
lazer pipe and chip
rick mayer seat
