Why change a good bulb? If you could predict how long a bulb will last, then yes, change it on a schedule. I've had bulbs go at 10,000 miles, 5,000 miles (twice), and the current bulb is still going after 15,000 miles. (I've probably jinxed myself with that last statement. I just carry a bulb with me when traveling, and change it when needed (usually in a hotel parking lot, sweating like a pig!)
