sorry for taking so long, and having so few pics. the GS challenge was a major time sucker and i really couldn't do a lot in the photo department this year.

thanks to everyone else who contributed.

you could see signs like this all over town. the people of tennessee were wonderful hosts. i would particularly like to thank the east tennessee pterodactyls, club #63 for ALL the local facilitation they provided, as well as the on-site support for the GS challenge, the bonfire and a zillion other things they helped out with (including the shine... )

the secret was in throttle and clutch control. this rider, colonel gooch, ran pretty good. he's also run in the ironman class at the 24-hour perry mountain challenge. he was tough as nails.

Wednesday I woke early to make my way down 129 to the Dragon -- rode it so many times I lost count.

48.jpg

After all my passes on the Dragon, I stopped by Deals Gap Resort and met up with some fellow MOA travelers.

Thursday's arrivals

52.jpg

Tent city -- one of many

51.jpg

Lots of parking along the avenue

53.jpg

54.jpg

Met a very friendly fellow that likes to ride long distance.....

55.jpg

Enjoyed lots of local roads traveling between the rally site and Greeneville, TN

56.jpg

They drew admiring glances wherever they were.....

57.jpg

Metzeler was selling lots of tires (and lots of farkles were installed at the rally)

59.jpg

Let loose your roost -- rain delay until Friday -- uh, Saturday.

60.jpg

Waiting for GS Challenge results

61.jpg

Closing ceremonies -- fun and laughs as the vendors tried to give away their prizes

62.jpg

Despite crowd taunts -- Motorrad would not part with this limited edition GS unveiled at the rally.

63.jpg

Lights off -- lights on. Closing ceremonies over, the drivers begin the trek home. See you in Oregon.

Great pics, more please. I rode through a terrific storm in Missouri ans got a room in Paducah, as I was unloading the bike I saw a puddle of 90wt. under the rear tire:violin. Grass Roots BMW in Cape Girardeau did a fantastic job of finding another bearing (in Bentonville Ark) and getting me back on the road on Sat afternoon. I got to the rally site at 0200 local time Sunday morning. Slept beside the bike , coffee'd up.:drink in the morning and rode back to Springfield, Mo
I can't help but feel that I missed something.
