I would like an owners manual for my 78 r100/7 and cannot find one online. Can anyone point me in the right direction for one. Ebay returns results for Clymer and Haynes repair manuals and I have those. Thanks

Your best bets are dealers...they should be able to get you one. I noticed that Vech at Benchmark works sells owners manuals for R100s on his website, part 01 40 9 798 260.1:

Did you check underside of the seat? On my '78 R100, there is a "pocket" there that holds the owner's manual.

There is also a small compartment on the underside of the seat towards the front of the seat that actually has a little arm that rotates to latch/unlatch the little door. I think this compartment would also be large enough to hold the small owner's manual.

Good one! The OP is brand new to this machine, only having purchased it earlier this month. Good places to "hide" the manual.

Check the Motobins UK site. They have owners manuals for some of the BMW Airheads. I got one for a R75/6 a couple of years ago. They are reprints but look exaclty like the new ones. Also got one for my R1100S.
