Worst biker movie ever?

It isn't just hard to write a good story with motorcycles in it. It is hard to write a good story, period. And very hard to write a good story that can be turned into a good movie.

Think of how many novels are published each year, and how few make the best seller list. Then think of how many best sellers that have been turned into bad movies. Also think of how many screenplays are never turned into movies, and how many become very bad movies.

Given how marginal motorcycles are to modern society, I feel glad and surprised when something like World's Fastest Indian shows up. :lurk

You're right, there aren't that many good stories, but bikes are so metaphoric on so many levels...I think "Rebuilding the Indian" could make a good movie. (Another Indian movie!?!??!)

Gaurav Jani has made a couple of really good motorcycle documentaries. These are "Riding Solo to the Top of the World" and "One Crazy Ride".

That should be in a separate thread called "The best motorcycle video diaries".

Fantastic stuff.

Stompin' ... for .... you got it .... glory!

Dennis Hopper is in it ... and I think he was actin' for .... :scratch :dunno :laugh

You have to remember man...it was the 60's...everything was out of kilter back then.:laugh

Better question would be name a good biker movie. What does that leave, Motorcycle Diaries?

Motorcycle Diaries has lots of riding, great cinematography and a true story of what formed a revolutionary.

Guevara witness firsthand the injustices that the destitute face and are exposed to people they would have never encountered otherwise. The trip also plants the initial seed of cognitive dissonance and radicalization within Guevara, who ostensibly would later view armed revolution as the cure to the continent's endemic economic inequalities.

Motorcycle Diaries, Twice Upon a Caravan, Worlds Fastest Indian, all great movies and of course Wild Hogs to remind us not to take ourselves too seriously.........Rod.

Hands down the worst biker movie I've ever seen was "Beyond the Law", in which Charlie Sheen goes undercover-cop & joins an OMC.

Horrible, horrible movie.

The movie Cyclone is what results when cheeze is reconfigured into film. It is the story of a super-power secret agent "ultimate" motorcycle (re David Hasslehoff's Nightrider Trans AM) set in the Glamorous "big hair" 80s.

It is not worth the $3 to rent the film, and no amount of beer or pizza make it worth while.

Also it showed how his riding companion, seeing the same things as Che, built the Cuban medical system.

Cuba is not a simple problem -- for a contrasting view, see "The Lost City". Andy Garcia presents his case well, though the film is about 40 minutes too long and tends to lose it's focus. Still, Garcia points out that the goal of a free democratic Cuba was lost in the turmoil following the overthrow of Battista.

I happen to run across 'The Wild Angles'. This could be one of the worst biker movies ever, three years before 'Easy Rider' Peter Fonda started in this movie that must be one of the worst movies ever.

I guess there have been very few good biker movies.

I'll vote for any, of many, others filmed vacations , ala, helmet cam, as in , "want to see my vacation pics"?:lurk
P.s., FWIW, I've never seen a good bike movie, possible exception for certain scenes such as McQueens' in The Great Escape...

Is there any new info about the rumored Mike Hailwood comeback movie? It's been 5 years since the story broke. It sure would be nice to add one to the "Good Movie List"...

I am too young to have seen "easy rider" when it was new. I heard so much about it, so I rented it several years ago. It STANK!

You had to live during that time to appreciate it. It was the beginning of the sexual revolution, rock music, racial equality and a rebellion against an oppresive controlling society. These are things people take for granted now.

It was just a low budget movie but it hit us boomers just right.:gerg

Watched it the other night, a great movie in my book. It has alot of good things to say and I think it may be just as relevant today.

'We blew it' is a great line and makes you think about American society.

"Cool as Ice".

Early '90s starring the one....the only.... Vanilla Ice!

Ice, Ice Baby!

never saw it, but at least he can ride

oh - and C.C. and Company didn't make anybody's list but it made the lost drive in back when the Nascar Reality Channel showed races during normal hours and was called SpeedVision...
...and Dave Despain had this little thing called Two Wheel Tuesdays - ah the good old days.

"Then Came Bronson"... that was it for me. Him going over the Bixby bridge in the opening credits. I was 17 years old and wanted to travel on my bike just like him...heck, I still do!

"The Wild Angels" was pretty good for the day, which may not be saying a whole lot ... at least it had a believable story line. But Mike Curb's music is what was really great about the film.

skip to 1:20 minutes in...

Another vote for World's Fastest Indian for "Best"

OOooo oo , when will it be out on DVD?

Interesting.... The superimposition of the swastika in the title credit. I also see the name Peter Bogdanovich in there as assistant to the director. I guess we see where he cut his teeth as well. Maybe his work on this flick steered him away from cheese??? :)
