To any SE-conference friends, I’m very pleased to report that the AlaBeemers conducted yet another 2nd Saturday Ride-2-Eat without casualties [as has occurred more than once in years gone by]! We had about 20 for the weekly NAVMC breakfast which was a very respectable turnout on a warmish Feb morning. It was later reported that one very senior member has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, so that was a bit of a bummer and we’ll assist his situation in any manner possible (he’s just over 90).
My group of six followers then rode south to refuel at the regular gas-stop/rendezvous point. I was flabbergasted to see seven more BMW riders awaiting our arrival. I got to meet some new MOAL members and a few irregular attendees. Our forecast was for random showers in the northern AL area, but temps eventually exceeded 70 degrees in the PM. Thirteen riders headed south on my abbreviated route {I was directed to arrive 30 minutes before Bama Bucks opened at 1100 so we could be seated first as a Large group}. We encountered some heavy mist and fog as we rode over Brindley Mountain, but it passed quietly as we continued southward. Our ride was significantly abbreviated in order to arrive on time for our early seating. There were no complaints as far as I know regarding my chosen route, and we arrived to find a parking lot full of other bikers from the southern regions of Alabama. Thirty five MOAL members and friends were treated to Bama Buck’s unique menu selections.

The 2025 MOA Rally chairpersons (
Vance & Mari) attended and we discussed the MOAL camping arrangements for the Rhythm & Rides Reunion part of this year’s rally theme. We’re hoping that all y’all will come to Lebanon, Tennessee in June for a rollicking good time, just on the outskirts of Nashville!
I now have to get started on our New Zealand Trip Summary which was worth every US & NZ dollar we expended! We took three weeks to explore the many touristy areas [which added immensely to our winter vacation], as opposed to the "standard 2-week" rushed trip led by exuberant corporate tour guides all-around both islands {which are about twice the total size of Wisconsin}.
Keep the rubber side down, y'all! Ciao, HSV-Phil & HSV-Mrs-Karen. 🤜 🤛
