What open faced helmet won't make me look like the Great Gazoo?

So, while most of the time I'm sporting my Shoei RF-1100, I sometimes like to ride open-faced.

I bought a Bell C500 but it makes me look like the Great Gazoo http://imgur.com/gallery/OL9BaZS -- see? https://flic.kr/p/yNC891

Call me a dum-dum but I am looking for a low-profile, retro-style, barely-legal (if need be) lid that doesn't make me look any more of a dork than I already am as a middle aged man rolling down the street on my sweet 1995 BMW K1100LT.

Something less bulbous, closer to the head, a little cooler. Yes, I have an enormous head, but I am sure there's a solution somewhere. Think Easy Rider.

What do you recommend? Please offer recommendations with a clean conscience. It's just that every once in a while I envy those cafe racers and Harley riders their illegal beanie helmets helmets a little and would just love to get a little more wind in my face.

Sometimes I wake up Born to be Wild. Sometimes I wake up feeling like I just want to be an Easy Rider.

Thanks in advance!

Have not seen one in action, but this was supposed to be a option for those who wanted more options.I think the video has it in operation.

We use Nolans and occasionally ride with them open, never worry about what anyone else thinks...or care. Have a bud, that I have never seen his closed...to each his own and no judgement here:wave

Don't need the safety police telling me what's best for me as well as some will feel the need to :love

This is my summer hat.

I have a large head as well (7 5/8) The XL-2XL just does fit.
I like the sun shield but it does hit my glasses when I pull it down. It takes both hands to do it, one pushing the hat forward and the other pulling the shield down. With most half helmets and skid lids the turbulence makes my glasses bounce around and can get quite annoying.

I think that's a pretty innovative system. I have not seen anything like that before. Can't get much more versatile than that.

Not crazy about the puffy look liner. :dunno

Bugs are old school cool:laugh...my leather jacket after an Airhead ride shows proof of a good ride.
I have an open face I'll wear on occasion and remember not to have that cheezy grin face showing and a bigger pair of glasses...bugs seem to hurt more than they did when I was 16:scratch

I tried on the Bell Rogue at my local cycle Gear. I thought I'd like it based on its appearance but it is overly complex for as simple as it looks, and it has too many components that you have to adjust. IMO.

What's wrong with the Great Gazoo? Looks like a cool dude! I look like Fred Flintstone, and all the helmet swaps in world won't fix that... I decided to embrace it.

I'd get what fits comfortably and has the features you want. My favorite open face is my older Vega brand Vista XVP with the flip-down shield. Don't know if I'll ever find a better one for me... the ones that Cycle Gear sells are close (same shell and face shield), but the interior is different than the Vega: www.cyclegear.com/CUSTOM-BILT-Roadster-Retro-Open-Face-Motorcycle-Helmet

I've found the helmet reviews on Web Bike World helpful (you may have looked already): http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmets.htm

Cheers...er, yaba daba doo. :beer

I've embraced the Gazoo but the Belfast looks pretty cool. I like the hidden tinted eye shield.

Thanks lads, I'll look through the other links tonight.

While pricey...ya might take a look at Seer helmets. They make many of the police helmets ya see. Full, open & half . They make a quality lid.

I have owned two 1/2 helmet style, still wearing one. Most comfortable helmets I've owned...........
