Touratech crash bars on R1300GS

I am in the middle of doing an oil change on my 1300..I discovered that the lower left mounting point of the right hand crash bar blocks access to the one of the oil filter housing bolts - necessitating removal of the crash bars just to change the oil filter..

I usually find any added protective equipment on the bike results in something needing to be removed for service. On the F-800GS, its the skid plate that needs to be removed for an oil and filter change. :dunno

Would you like this moved up to Wetheads?

D'oh.. knew I'd have to pull 'em for the valves, but was hoping not to have to for simple oil changes.

I try to find protective equipment that does not add time to maintenance or adds very little time.
A skid plate falls into very little time added.
Head covers also falls into very little time added.
On the R1250 there are some crash bars that don't add time to maintenance. I don't know if that's true for the R1300GS.

One saving grace is that the TT bars on the R1300GS mount to the stock mounting points and don't replace an engine mount bolt so removal/reinstall on one side is pretty easy. 3 bolts.
