Top case trim gap

I removed the “blank” in my top case and installed the third brake light. I did not pay attention to how much gap there was between the chrome trim piece and the case itself when removing it. I got it all together (pain in the butt getting those two screws in) and notice a gap between the chrome and the case. I have searched pictures on the web and see there is a gap, just wondering if mine is too big. I really do not want to disassemble again, but want it correct. How big of gap is on your guys cases?

Welcome to the forum John.
I don't know if the gap is normal but I do know I would not be happy with the fit.
Maybe the last 2 thread bumps will get the attention of someone who knows.

It looks a bit off. IIRC, there are some tabs along the top edge that you have to make sure slide under the body of the t.c. and the trim piece above it to sandwich it in. Mine for reference. I do have the Isotta rack on it but that shouldn’t make a difference. IMG_3138.jpeg

Thank you for the pic. I was afraid of that lol. I am also not happy with it. I am going to pull it out and see if I can get it seated better. I do have those tabs pushed in. I must have that wire pinched under there. I have taken it on and off four or five times now. I am becoming the “Top Case Trim Master” without wanting to.
