The 2026 National Rally... Eastern US : Essex Junction VERMONT... June 11-13 2026

#102452 Sometimes Hangared... But Always Aimed Out
It's about that time of the year... speculation of the next, yet unannounced, annual Rally site for 2026!
State, City and Venue? Month of June again? What are your thoughts?

I'll go first.
Mid June in Essex Junction (Burlington suburb) VERMONT.
The first rate Champlain Valley Exposition Center.
Why: We've been there before, the wheels still have grease...and THEY need our MOA attendance/tourism money.
It's a long way from Lebanon TN's "posing" Central Zone 2025 choice... allowing you to forget geographic rally boundaries!
Near guaranteed high attendance and Club revenue.

I’d love it to be in northern New England where I could really pitch in to help others enjoy the Adirondacks of NY, the Green Mountains of VT, and the White Mountains of NH. The area is also extremely welcoming to our Canadian friends
I’m not sure even New England can attract many of our “Canadian Friends” in 2026 or for the next 2 years... Just my opinion. :huh :fight

It’s starting now in the news, Weds, 12Mar25. :uhoh

... I'm planning a route already!

Vermont would be fun. I missed the last Vermont rally. Escaping the southern heat that time of year is a plus. The only down side is dealing with the I-95 corridor. Maybe swinging west on the way up north will be an option.

When we head to the South from Vermont we take a variety of scenic routes that roughly parallel I-95. Not as fast but infinitely more memorable!

The only time I can remember taking I-95 in that area was back in 1988 or 1989 when Debbi'e 1987 K75T fan motor burned out when a breather hose got caught in the fan. We were in southern NH and hoped on the interstate to get to my grandfather's place in Woodsville NH. The next day we got on the interstate and went to whoever the dealer was back then in southern NH.

Sitting at the intersection of Route 495 and route 95 I can really recommend a go around.
I put a couple of posts in Commuter’s Corner lately which is almost “daily conditions”. :bluduh

Many years ago Voni and I were headed from a rally in West Virginia to Dave Swisher's house near Bowling Green, Virginia. I needed to use his shop and lift to lube the transmission splines on Voni's K75 which had started exhibiting difficult downshifting. We got on I95 somewhere south of DC but north of Fredericksburg. It was early afternoon. Traffic was as they say "bumper to bumper" three lanes wide. Speeds were wildly variable as drivers persisted in using their brakes, speeding up, tailgating, using their brakes, ad nauseum. Looking ahead it was a sea of on again off again brake lights. I managed to tolerate this for exactly 1.5 miles to the next exit. We took the exit. I rearranged the map in the pocket on my tank bag, rechecked the destination in my GPS, and enjoyed a pleasant ride on nice back roads all the way to Dave's house.

In all likelihood it would take a considerable emergency to get me to ride on I95 ever again. Life is just to short for me to tolerate that nonsense. YMMV

Lifelong Northern VA resident here and I can tell you that very few of us "natives" take 95 north of Fredericksburg to the beltway. LOL It's always been a mess just like the northern loop of 495 (270 spur) and 66 east of Manassas. The roads and public transportation here never kept up with the explosive growth which seemed to have attracted poor drivers from every state and nation. Fortunately, there are a great number of alternate routes west of 95.)

No need for Fargo when there is Ben & Jerry’s-

Blue Ridge Parkway to Skyline, and you're well north. From there, central PA, up through NY State and you're up toward VT, escaping all of 95 and that misery.

Great recommendation!
I'll add a fact; anyone in the Carolinas and south through southwest...
track toward southwest VA and ride through West Virginia into western MD and/or across PA for the northeastern states.
The ultimate i95 escape. Yes, at the least... one day longer travel.
And well worth it!
