The 2026 National Rally... Eastern US : Essex Junction VERMONT... June 11-13 2026

Once you cross into NY out of PA there are a number of very nice scenic and windy rides northward through the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains to the central and northern VT borders with NY.

The only time I'm on I-95 now is that little sliver to get up to Portland Maine but it only saves about 5 minutes from just crossing NH into Maine on back roads.

My wife and I drive / ride up and down the east coast 4-5 times a year and we've basically decided (last 2 years of trips) that we take VT west to Albany then drop down across central PA touching West Virginia and VA down to NC. We're on 95 if we're doing St. Augustine FL from savannah but basically avoiding 95 from Savanna all of the way up to Maine border and I'm A-OK with that.

As for rally location, well it's anyone's guess.

In 2006, Essex Junction, Vermont had around 9200 visitors. Close behind was 2009 Johnson City, Tennessee at nearly 9000.

Great recommendation!
I'll add a fact; anyone in the Carolinas and south through southwest...
track toward southwest VA and ride through West Virginia into western MD and/or across PA for the northeastern states.
The ultimate i95 escape. Yes, at the least... one day longer travel.
And well worth it!
I live in Charlotte, North Carolina and travel frequently to New Jersey, I never ever take the 95 route. Always up the I 81 corridor. Lots of options to avoid 81 most of the way, just deal with PA.

But going to Vermont absolutely take the west side of I 81 up into Pennsylvania and then meander across New York State.

That was an excellent rally and they landed accommodations at one of the small colleges. I believe it was called Saint Michael’s, but I may be wrong. We had four guys in a five room quad at someone ungodly cheap rate.

Boston fun continues-

If a side trip to Boston is considered, best to plot 2 routes.

That is some crazy footage. I imagine the driver of the car filming was pleased to see an exit ramp there. :)

Just another crazy day in Boston traffic. The vehicle with the dash cam was a limousine. The limousine company mentioned that the driver was happy to make a quick exit. 😊

You're a half day trip from Boston, Montreal, Quebec, and Boston. You're a one day trip from pretty much anywhere north of Washington, D.C, so you've got the most populated part of the country feeding riders to the rally.

I expect it will be a decently sized rally if it's in VT.
