First set of plugs at 25K?![]()
Service spec's for the 09 are 24K miles for plug replacement.
Cam-Heads went to 12K.
With the three 07-09' s we have, none have looked good after 12K, the center electrodes are usually oval by then.
Might not be a great place - but it's a necessary place. The purpose of the bottom plug is to start two flame-fronts when the mixture ignites, allowing it to burn completely, and eliminating the lean-surge condition the R11 and R1150 bikes had (until the R1150xx bikes got dual plugs in '04..) It works and I'm not staying awake nights worrying about the bottom plug being darker. You can always swap the plugs center to bottom when you're checking the valve clearances.I just changed plugs at 15K miles on my 2012 RT. I was surprised at how dark the bottom plug was. Doesn't seem like a great place to put a plug on a boxer. ?

But, I'd rather have the 100,000 mile plugs in my 505 HP Chevy.
You are obviously in need of a supercharger.![]()
But the name "427" evokes so much emotion from past successes.![]()
6.2 liters and a supercharger gets me home faster and posting sooner?
OR, I have no life.
Sorry for the thread derail, everyone!
