replacement cord for bmw elec vest

New member
The electric cord for my bmw heated vest got damaged. My local bmw dealer refered me to a company called Widder, that they were the company that made the vest for bmw. I went to their web page and see they went out of business. Does anybody know any other source for replacement cords for the bmw electric vest?

Maybe it would simplify the repair to change the jacket end to another available cord, rather than hunt for the unobtainable Widder stuff ? Aerostich shows some elec. connectors in their catalog and Gerbings is alive and well.

If the plug in connection at the jacket is good, it seems that the wires can be disconnected by unscrewing the small holding screw for the leads. I plan on doing this and then screwing in a gerbing lead. Plan on doing this tommorow.

thanks for suggestions on replacement vest cord

Thanks for all the suggestions, I was able to get a replacement cord from i-bike. The old cord was never salvageable. When I got the cord new, a friend who has the same vest said the 1st thing you need to do is to strech the coiled cord so it won't be pulling itself out of the clips on the vest. Before I could say no, he had the cord streched to about 5 feet. Well....the cord pulled out of the vest anyway and now that it was stretched so long, it immideitely got tangled in the rear wheel. End of cord. I think I'll hide the new cord from my friend!:thumb
