Rear Shock Swap

Current situation is I have a R850R running a 1100RT rear shock that just blew in the middle of a 4000 cross country trip. Some just offered me an Öhlins rear from a K1200LT. Looks like a good fit but unsure. Any ideas of comparability?

I'm not sure about the mounting distance but I know for sure it'll be way oversprung. The LT is a huge hunk of a bike compared to an R850R. I think it's got over 300 extra pounds.

Yeah, after taking to someone very helpful at Beemer Boneyard we came to that conclusion also. Had no idea K bikes were that heavy. Ended up with a Ohlins for a 1100RT off eBay. Being shipped to a stop a week away. Guess I'll be hobby horsing through Yellowstone and Glacier.
