We stopped at the Hatefull Hussy in Talihina, Ok for ice tea before riding over Skyline Drive. $1 for a large ice tea. We sat outside and had quite a few locals stop and visit.
70 in Talihina, then it dropped to 61 on the Skyline Drive. It was sunny, clear and we had the road to ourself again.

35 F this AM.
125 between Yellville Arkansas and Chadwick Missouri is a fun road with a ferry ride near the south end.
55 and partly cloudy today. At Clinton Missouri tonight and home tomorrow.
Hot tub felt good after a cool ride.
Forecast is calling for 33 F in the AM so we won't be in a hurry to hit the road. Heated jacket liners sure help

Just completed our soggy spring Austrian vacation.
Week one was splendid on our bicycle & boat tour on the Danube River; began & concluded in Passau, Germany (on das border). Booked our ADVenture via: radreisen.at

The first week aboard was terrific using our KTM standard 21-speed bicycles.
Week two was overly wet on our rented Edelweiss BMW GS’s.

Had planned to tour Austria. Our weather was just too distressing. Thus, we rode westward to Lichtenstein, then south to Switzerland, and then into Italy via the “vehicle ferry-train” under the Alps and northern Italy (thereby avoiding the St Bernardo mountain passes that were still blocked by snow). Everyday was a new discovery of what was possible…

Looking forward now to connecting at the 50th MOA rally in Virginia.
Be safe & be seen!
Ciao, HSV-Phil und HSV-Karen

^ well that time in May is generally too early and depending on the winter they had, many passes especially the higher ones will be closed.

I was on the Col d'Iseran in France on June 25th and although the pass was open, the snow at the edge of the road was cut straight up 15 feet

How long of a ride is the ferry-train?
It appears you have to stay with the bikes. Is that correct?

In looking at the GPS track, the whole tunnel appears to be 12 miles (19.1K) NW to SE under the mountains.
We/I was confused about the whole ferry concept since the signage was not “intuitively obvious” to these wandering Yanks.
We rode south into Davos, trying to take Rt-28 across to Rt-27, but the passes were closed (literally Red-Tape on signs) so we had to backtrack.

Yes, when we rolled out of the rain into the tunnel, the train’s speed eventually brought us a brief but heavy shower off the freight-car in front of us.
It’s hard to judge the speed, but I’d guess no more than 25 mph (40K); we stopped halfway through so an ongoing train could go by.
I’d estimate the whole ride was about 20 minutes, including the stop, with us sitting/leaning on our in-gear bikes and holding the front brake.

They were pretty efficient as far as loading & unloading vehicles!
Not what I ever expected, but it was there when we needed an escape into Italy on a very damp and cold afternoon.

We had trouble finding a hotel for the evening. Eventually landed a decent room & supper at Restaurant Weingarten in Terlano, Bolzano, IT :thumb
We were exhausted and pretty wet, but they gave us a warm welcome, a garage for the bikes, and even a working elevator!
The in-season white asparagus was their specialty; K enjoyed ravioli stuffed with asparagus...
