Post a pic of your Airhead

Back on the road now happy to have the Carbs deep cleaned and balanced. Just a couple little bits to get the R65 back on the road.

Hello all! My old R60/5. I bought this when I was 22, in 1993. I had cancer, was going through addiction, and this bike was a shining ray of light in my life at that time. Working on it and riding it took me away from all the darkness. Rode it from OK to some BMW rally in, I think, Tennessee and all over the southwest, Sturgis in 1994, Colorado, etc... Now, 32 years sober, cancer free, I have the opportunity to buy it back from the friend I sold it to in 1998. He lives in St Paul MN, so I'm flying out there on the 14th of July to ride it back to Petaluma CA on the same route Pirsig took in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. He swapped the S-Bars for a set of touring bars, but he unfortunately sold the batwing fairing that was on it when I sold it to him. I had him put on a Slipstreamer semi-full fairing, so that will be nice, and the Wixom bags are still with it. I bought those 1000 Mile Solo Saddles from an ad in the back of the print MOA magazine! Pretty sure from Blue Moon. No internet then. I also put in a Dyna ignition and progressive springs and shocks. He upgraded the rockers to /6 hardware, so hopefully new tires, change the fluids and ride it to CA with no major malfunctions. It was always such a smooth and reliable bike, I'm sure it will be great. I hope I don't get on it after all these years and think "what a turd!" I can't imagine that will happen, but I've had some modern bikes since than. Glad to be back in the fold. Wish me luck! Geoff
