Parking lot drop-broken radiator

Thought my kickstand was down but apparently not all the way so slowly dropped my 2013 K16GTL on its left side. Later noticed the driving light was bent down a bit. I did not ride it from the day I dropped it until a month later when I rode into a local dealer for winter storage. Mentioned to them that I would like to see if light could be brought back into line. Dealer called me a few days later and gave me the bad news, the light bracket bent in and took out my radiator. Small crack that would not leak when doing short rides but would when warmer weather and longer ride takes place. Radiator by itself is $1100!! Dealer service writer remembered I said I dropped in parking lot and asked if I had insurance. Called my agent and was happy to hear I do have coverage and that dropping it was covered. End of story, parts-many more than just the radiator, labor and painting of new parts came to just over $6K. I have a $100.00 deductible so am glad to pay it. And, just ordered engine guards to be installed promptly.

Parking lot “naps” are very common.
Glad you were covered.
