Our 2025 Rally : The What, Where & Why... Lebanon Tennessee : June 19-21 2025

Thanks. It’s not a huge issue, but if I had to disconnect the trailer, I’d need to ensure it’s secured so someone doesn’t “walk off with it.”

As another person who occasionally pulls a trailer let me pose a question or few. Assuming the tow bar pin is a locking type and there is a lock on the coupler on the hitch ball, is this secure?

How hard would it be to unscrew the nut on the hitch ball, lift the whole thing out of the tow bar, swivel the trailer around, drop the ball in the tow bar on a different vehicle and drive away. This is a serious question about the illusion of security we construct for ourselves.

I once thought a big wheel lock on my trailer made it secure, until I noticed that 5 lug nuts and my own spare later could leave my wheel and lock in the driveway and the trailer headed down the road. And any decent nut extractor and electric impact wrench can have a locking lug nut off in less than ten seconds.

Sure it all might help, but I still have insurance.

Now back to the thread topic. Sorry for the hijack.

At every MOA National Rally that I have attended, I have seen GPSs, keys in ignitions and other items left on bikes. The MOA Rally members seem to be a very trusting and secure group. There might be a concern if Day Passes allow the local population in but even then I very much doubt that your trailer would vanish.

In my almost eighty years, I had a tendency to often over think and worry about issues, but as I’ve told my daughter (who also possesses this (my) personality/defect, in my life, I have wasted too much anxiety over things which have never come to pass.

Enjoy the Rally.

Well, if someone wants to cut the padlock on the hitch ball, yeah…they could just move to another ball hitch and go. Of course, I have a thick cable lock I wrap around one wheel when it’s parked outside at home. You could still steal it, but you’ll be dragging a tire the whole time. I bring this with me when I travel, but I’d try to secure to something more immovable…like a light pole.

You're overthinking it. There will be thousands of people there and nobody will know who owns what. Sure, someone could roll up to your trailer and walk off with it but not likely. If you're leaving it at a hotel, throw a lock through it and ride to the rally.

At the rally, lock your helmet to the bike and enjoy the event. I took off my gear and left it on my bike, like everyone else. I'd rather walk around in a T shirt and shorts.

Are you looking for a room for the 2025 Rally. We have space for one more rider at the BMW MOA rally in Lebanon TN to share to cost of the hotel. So if you do not have a reservation, I can help.

I am new to using a GPS(Garmin 396) and cannot figure out how to import routes to my GPS. I go into ride with gps(bicycling route app) and choose the route, I choose send to device. Garmin then it sends to garmin connect, which is a watch app. I do not want to do that.
What the heck am I doing wrong. I have a garmin connect account and can find the route in app but still can't send to gps. I do not want to use my phone as GPS.
