Hi All,

Two weeks ago I was hit commuting home on my 2014 1000 Ninja. Broken collarbone, totaled bike. Good news is that with the insurance I was able to go shopping! After a ton of research due to down time from recovering from the surgery to fix the bone, I landed on a few options. While the Ninja was truly a great motorcycle, I was ready for something different. Over the years I've had a number of twins including riding my dad's 1967 Triumph Tiger as my first real street ride. Riding the Ninja I missed the torque that my Triumphs and Harley's had over the years. I currently have a '85 R80 for my second bike - so I'm familiar with the Boxer platform. My short list included the Triumph Thruxton, Moto Guzzi Griso, Kawasaki Z900 and the RnineT. I had to rule out the RnineT and Thruxton (1200) due to price. But when I went to a dealer in Santa Rosa, a two hour drive from my home near Santa Cruz, to look at a Griso they had an RnineT Pure on sale. It caught my eye, I bought it.

Long story short, I loved the Griso's style and uniqueness. But it is heavy - and felt more like a Harley VRod than a standard / sportier bike. I live near California's wonderful highway 9 - so handling is important. I hadn't considered the Pure until I saw it. Sure, I'd rather have the upgraded suspension and brakes, but given the price point and the sale the dealer had it became an option. I didn't think I'd have another Beemer in the garage, but I bought the Pure.

I have to go back and pick it up in a couple of weeks, once I get the doctor's clearance. Chomping at the bit to ride, especially since the weather changed (finally). I look forward to being a part of this community. I especially look forward to riding with the Nor Cal BMW crew.

Welcome to the forum! Interesting set of circumstances that brought you to the R9T. I hope your recovery goes well and you can get back on those new wheels soon!!
