Motor Holes

There are holes in the motor case that I do not understand. These are about an inch behind and a inch above top rear of cylinder base. (hole is about 6mm dia.) Why are these holes on both sides on a /6 (R60 and R90) but only on left side on R100s (/7 and PD)??

I think you are talking about the weep holes for the starter area.

If you take off the starter cover, you will see that these holes are to drain condensation or any other water out of that area.

Are the tops of the cases under the starter cover exactly the same on the /6 and /7? Possibly the area is shaped differently and will only really drain to one side. I know that on the /7, the breather valve and associated plumbing for that is on the right side under the starter cover. IIRC, it's located somewhat differently on the /6.
