Mid-South ride, eat, and meet

Trying to eat a little better and more on the healthy side. I’ve been a junk food junkie for too long. Gotta get my self I shape for the fall riding season.

Riding has been Interrupted do to

Cataracts! Got the surgery done on the right eye, now waiting to get the same done on the left. Surgery was pretty much a conga line of senior citizens getting the surgery. Yea, I guess I assume senior citizen status this month as I turn 70 on the 27th. Get the 2nd eye done and get back in the saddle.:groovy

I went through that last summer. Well worth the slight hassle. I also had new lenses inserted (I'd worn glasses since age 6! Should'a started sooner, but....) Best thing I've ever done to my life improvement. I now have 20/20 and 20/25 vision, and for the first time in my life -- I've had a license since 1967 -- an unrestricted drivers' license. No glasses required!

Hope your second eye surgery goes as well (or better) than the first eye.

Thx J.. Still taking the post op eye drops on the 1st eye. Early August get the 2nd eye done. I’ve missed most of the summer riding season so far. Riding is my therapy. U don’t know what U got till it’s gone. They paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Sorry, got carried away. Great song from 50 years ago. :brow

Cataract Surgery Inconvenence

Got the surgery on my right eye. Had to have it, as I was impaired seeing thru that eye. At the end of the procedure, I was told I had the beginning of the same problem on the left eye. Up till then I thought I would get a contact for the left eye. I agreed to get the left eye surgery. The problem was seeing great in new right eye, but I was still near sighted in left eye. Seeing was kind of lop sided and confusing. Finally, I took an older pair of glasses and removed the right lens, and tried the glasses on. It was an improvement; still not great. One eye corrected inside the eye and the other eye corrected with a lens about 1/2 inch in front of the eye. In about a week or so, will get the surgery on the left eye and really solve the problem of my sight. I’m really chomping at the bit to get back to riding my bikes. :brow

Lens removed.

Got the surgery for eyes done. One more visit to the eye specialist group to finish the procedure; Tuesday I believe. Eye sight is much improved. Get some reader glasses; most important, start riding again. Eye therapy on two wheels in the wind. My personal diagnosis for mental peace and happiness. :groovy

Congrats! It's been a year since I had the surgery (on both eyes). Still no regrets -- other than not convincing the Dr to do the surgery years ago!

Thanks J., I’ve reached the age where it seems it will be a list of old age maladies, and health issues. Hopefully, I’ll get some riding in, till then.

Sad News

I hate to be the bearer of sad news. The passing of long time BMW rider Harlan T. Brown of central Arkansas. Harlan was a long time member of the Naturally Beemers of Arkansas. He was an active member and past president of the club. Harlan rode locally and long distance attending many of the rallies and campouts in and around Arkansas. You could not meet a more pleasant person to associate with. RIP Harlan, I miss you already.

Time Flies/Getting Older

Been outa the loop with my local club, the Naturally Beemers of Ar.. I had texted earlier about the passing of long time member of Harlan Brown. Just found out about the passing of another member, Rod Kilduff. Rod was very instrumental in the starting of the club. There was the Founding Five. Rod was a part of that, back in 1988, if I remember correctly. Over 30 years ago. Those who joined the 1st year were charter members. As soon as I heard about it , I signed up.
