M97 Gearbox Disposal

I just replaced my 1100RT gearbox with a low mileage replacement in apparently good condition. My old gearbox is high mileage, with worn input shaft splines. The box shifted very well, and did not shed any metal particles on the magnetic drain plug. The replacement was due to a stripped clutch hub, not the input splines.

Aside from pulling off the fill and drain plugs, are there any other parts that I should consider saving?

Or, if someone wants a gearbox to take apart for internal parts, or to rebuild, I would send it off to you for the cost of shipping. Otherwise, I’ll remove whatever I can and dump the rest.

Michael - I would be interested in this transmission as a learning exercise. My R1100RS transmission is still original and still good. I have re-built several airhead transmissions, but haven't taken apart an oilhead one. I can ride down to your place and pick it up when ever you like. You can call me or send an email to let me know your wishes. [Note to others, Michael and I live about 30 miles apart in NC].

I will leave this up for a day or so as a great example for others.
