Good deal on motorcycle batteries

If you happen to be looking for a battery for your ride...Just bought a new battery for my R1100S online from www.factoriesonline.com. Got a WESTCO Motorcycle Battery, 12V20P for little less than $85 delivered (and that's with CA sales tax). The Westco batteries have proven to be a reliable and this was a $15-20 cheaper than another source I could find.

Westco relabels batteries from other parties. Westco previously sold Panasonic AGM batteries under their label. These batteries appear to be the Universal Batteries UB12220 AGM battery. They aren't bad batteries. But, be aware of what you may be purchasing.

Battery...

I have a Shorai Lithium in an FJ Yamaha and a Bikemaster Lithium in a 94 R1100RS. Nothing but lithium from here on out for me. Lots of crank power and very little maintenance (trickle charge) required to keep them both at 100%. Worth the little extra for the peace of mind!

PC 680 Odessey

I just purchased an Odyssey PC680 from Walmart supplied by BatteryMart for $110. US. Free delivery. The PC 680 in my 01 R1100S has lasted eight years. I consider this excellent value and preventative maintenance as the old one still performs well.

I highly recommend a proper charger for the battery. Odyssey has a list of approved chargers on their site.

The only issue with the Odyssey on an oilhead is that the charging system is not optimized for it. Odyssey wants 14.7 volts and your alternator deliver 14.2. So to get max life and performance from the Odyssey you need to either change the regulator in your alternator to a 14.7 volt unit, modify the existing alternator with a diode (not easy) or do what I do and just periodically charge the Odyssey with your Odyssey approved charger. A list is on their website.

I notice that even when I get back from a very long ride and my battery should be full up when I put it on the Odyssey charger it always takes some charging before it is fully charged indicating the bike's system is not fully charging it. I do this at least once a month to prevent sulfation over the long term. Seems to be working well so far since both my Odyssey batteries are lasting quite long and no issues at all. They really are an excellent AGM.
