Cutting a BMW Key

Can you buy the blanks from BMW and then take to local locksmith? I had tro do that for a 90 Honda PC800 that I wanted an extra key. Honda didn't want to cut it...
Generally, no. And most locksmiths aren’t equipped to cut the internally-grooved keys. Ordering a key through a BMW dealer is more costly than just cutting a blank, but it’s a fairly painless process.

Best,
DeVern

A non chipped precut key from BMW does not cost much but I'm guessing you want a extra key for the ignition. The ignition key has a chip in it.
