Bar riser performance? 02 r1150r

My 02 R1150R has bar risers that raise the bars up about an inch and back about an inch. The foot pegs are also lowered about 1.5 inches. The riding position is super comfortable. I’m curious, though- would the change in geometry (particularly the bars) noticibly change performance characteristics? I’ve only had this bike about a month. It handles just fine, but I’m wondering if removing the risers would give it a more “nimble” feel. I’m 5’10”. I had almost the exact same bike about 10 years ago without risers or lowered pegs and never felt uncomfortable on that bike, so I think riding position would be fine.

Like I said, no complaints, but if taking them off would be a cheap (free!) performance upgrade...

It’s raining, I have a flat tire, and I’d rather be riding today. Instead I’m inside thinking of ways to work on my bike. Thoughts?

Take them off and try it out. If you don't like the results, put them back on.

It's an individual choice, there is no general rule because all riders are different.

You are in a much better position than someone who wonders if risers would be a good idea, but has none to try.

The ergonomics - ie handle bar position and foot peg position - do not change the suspension or steering geometry of the bike at all. The lowered pegs will change the center of mass when you are standing on the pegs. Otherwise, no significant change. The bar risers only change actual handling if you stiff-arm the bars. Otherwise the steering head does not care where the ends of the bars are. The changes relate to your body much more so than the bike. If they fit you fine. If not, do something different.
