Not wanting to hijack another poster's thread, I saw where member eastbay posted about a starter noise and felt compelled to start my own.
My '01 R1100RL was sitting for 3 weeks and when I went to start it up, the starter made a noise which sounded like a metallic breaking something kind of noise. At the same time my headlight went out. Thinking I had a blown fuse, I switched to the high beam and it worked fine, so I ruled out a fuse.
After starting it again and going out for a ride, I noticed the low beam was on, but very dim. So just to be seen, l rode with the high beam on. When I pulled into the garage, I switched from high to low beam and it was hard to see any light at all.
Anybody else had a problem like this? I don't know where to begin tracking the problem and don't know if it is related to the noise I heard from the starter.
Any help would be appreciated.
