Air/oil cooled camhead oil cooler fan

That's the exact reason mine was installed. Traffic jam getting into valley of fire state park last winter. I don't expect to use it much, if at all. But now I don't have to pull off the road, shut the motor off and let it cool some only to get back in line and repeat that multiple times in the next 4 miles of bumper to bumper.

Mine was hooked into the battery with a toggle switch placed on the left dash panel of the 11RT. My bike [ and I suspect most camheads ] doesn't fast idle creating more heat [ idle remains the same ], nor does the voltage move below 14.1 and hovers at 14.2 to 14.3 idling or motoring down the road.
I installed a police fan on my Oilhead for long, slow waits at the border (also I coast downhill with the motor off at those crossings whenever possible). However this summer and last year, I use the fan as I approach home in my city. I do not know if it is because of the higher summer temperatures but combined with city traffic, my thermostat increases one bar without the fan engaged. The thermostat reads normal on the highway.

I don't want to have to coast worrying about engine temps, what a PITA that would be. I did just that at valley of fire last year. NEVER again will I play that game, hence the fan install. I live in an oven here, it takes some effort for the temps here to move the bar up one on the temp gauge.

One bar warmer wouldn't concern me. I will use that one bar higher than normal as the indicator to turn the fan on if the situation dictates I'm in a scenario where it will continue to climb however.

As an aside-
When I used to do parades with the Blue Knights, it would be so hot that bikes started to be shut off during the parade “stops”. While it did seem to help- a little, it was found that the constant re-starts and lack of run/recharge time, would drain the battery to the point of being unable to start.
I like the concept of adding a cooling fan.
