2011 RT - Tank bag options?

dbcasey

Life's too short to ride dull roads
After many years of faithful service, my Cortech Dryver tank bag is starting to come apart. I'd like some recommendations for a tang ring mounted tank bag. I've seen SW Motechs offerings, but they only offer 1 size.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions,
Daryl

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the reply. SW Motech does indeed have many sizes of tank bags but unfortunately, according to their website, there's only 1 size that fits my bike (Ion One)

Givi seems to have many options for tank bag sizes. For a 2011 RT, the tanklock tank ring is #BF47. There are a good number of tank bag sizes available.

The factory one that clips into the mounts on the tank is pretty awesome. Get the tank bag organizer insert so it's not just a big empty hole you throw things in. Comes off with one hand easily and expands nicely. I am old and like a physical map in the map window of my tank bag. I didn't buy an SW-Motech for my GS because they kinda don't seem to think anyone uses a map anymore. :ha

I'll just be out front yelling at kids to get off my lawn.

Thank you for the links. SW-Motech site didn't include them when searching for my tank bags that would fit my particular bike. Does anyone use the SW-Motech tank bags? I'd like to get some reports on how they do with the rails that run along the sides of the tank cap.

I second the BMW tank bag. Only downside for mine on the 2008 RT is the feet/mounts are super sharp and you need to be careful where you set it down as it will mar/dent wood tables and possibly make indentations in leather/cloth furniture. With that said it can get really big and with handlebar risers it makes my windscreen go down when at full right lock :). Lastly, you unclip it and lift it from the front in one move and if its unzipped the entire contents will go to ground.

I've had my 11RT oem tank bag do just that at a fill station. Unzip it to get the wallet, forget to zip it back up of course because I'll be putting the wallet away again. Only took once though.

Had it happen at a restaurant, I had the bag on the seat next to me and unzipped to retrieve something, forgot to zip it closed and contents all over the seat and floor. How embarrassing. Like above, once and done, lessons learned the hard way
