Has anyone had experience changing the fuel pump or the pump relay? I started out for a ride today with a half a tank of fuel stopped at the local gas station to fill up where I always fuel and the bike would not restart. I pushed the bike over into the shade took out one of the injectors, turned the key back on and did not get any fuel out of the fuel line? It was very hard to hear with the traffic going by but when I put my ear to the tank and turned on the key I could hear maybe a slight clicking sound. Am I correct in Assuming thAt I should hAve fuel going everywhere when I turn on the keys with the injector disconnected? AnywAy After About 20 minutes And some prAyer it stArted right bAck up. ?.roAd it home And it rAn As strong As it ever hAs. Shut the bike off when I got home and now it wont reStart again? Since it runS So good when it iS running I'm aSSuming it'S the relay on top of the pump? Any suggestions out there?

I am having the same fun on my 2008 RT. Eventually would not start at all and had to be towed. Dealer tomorrow. From everything I have read sounds like fuel pump controller.
I will let you know.

I just pulled my controller out. As everyone in forums has said, look for water. Sure enough under controller is moisture. I used the burnsmoto bypass http://burnsmoto.com/bmw-fuel-pump-bypass-cable.php
And she started right up. Off to dealer to get another tomorrow.

Keep your old controller, cut the wire connector off and make your own for the next time.

Well I plugged in the high dollar part and she purrs like she used too!!

Yes a little.sand ..and moisture...that is correct. A little electical spray cleaner and dialectric grease for re assembley are a must.
Thx for.the link...I will look at that later.tonight

I just wish I hadn't spent $400 on a uhaul yesterday. Oh well lesson learned. I could have removed, cut off plug, wired to battery and ride home. Dang it.

Lbarbee , the video wouldn't play due to some copyright law...ugh. So just a question on making my own pigtail ..regarding polarity? Any suggestions on getting that correct. Thx

Yes. Yellow is positive. Blue is negative. Yellow corresponds to red on the burnsmoto jumper. I also plugged into bike and verified polarity with meter.

Awesome thank you very much! I may just put a little inline switch on my positive lead just for absolute fun!

I read somewhere that you should not plug into a canbus socket, only a direct fused connection to battery capable of 7 amps. Not sure about it, but sounds reasonable. Of course when you are stranded you do what you have to do.
