2003 K1200RS Caliper Mounted Driving Lights

Riders,

I would like to mount driving/fog lamps on the front brake calipers of my '03 K1200RS (I do not want to use the system that mounts the lights in the front fairing directly under the headlight assembly) and, if possible, I would like to purchase an all inclusive kit for installation. Any suggestions/guidance will be appreciated. "Sticker Shock" is expected.

Gracias,

Dave

Try the Motolights.

VIEJO,

Just be aware that by mounting the lights to the unsprung part of the bike (calipers) you will be exposing the lights and mounts to exponentially more vibration and shock loads. Make sure the brackets will handle the loads. Filament (halogen) style bulbs probably would not be suitable. A quality led setup would probably give better longevity.

Thanks..... I had not taken that into consideration and it is a very significant consideration. Dave

That is among the reasons why I advised to check out Motolights. Between us Voni and I have over a million miles with fork mounted Motolights and I can count on one hand the number of bulbs I have replaced. And there have been no mechanical issues with either the lights mounted to the fork legs with a bands or mounted via caliper bolts. And yes, by the way they are expensive but no more so than other premioum lights.

Thanks Paul....... I checked out the Motolights website earlier this evening and everything kept directing me to kits for H-D's; I'll dig a little deeper. I figure that cheap lights make about as much sense as cheap brakes.

Go to Light Sets, Caliper Mount
Then select the options, finish, bulb, etc.
On the Harley questions check NO
Then fill in 2003 BMW K1200RS
Go from there!
