1996 R1100RT Ignition and Switch clean and lube

On the ignition switch, is there a cleaner and lube you can spray into the switch, from the key insert opening, that would displace any water and lube the switch? On the start button and kill switch, right handlebar, if I open the switch up, can I spray a electronic cleaner on the contacts?

Any thoughts or recommendations. Thanks, oldcarman Jim

The mechanical portion can be lubed with lock lube.
As far as the ignition switch goes, it is best removed, carefully disassembled, cleaned and lightly lubed with white lithium grease.
Most of the handlebar switches are sealed and the contact cleaner won't get to the contacts (excepting the heated grip & high beam switch)

Yes. “Generation 2000 Clean and Lube”. Found in Amazon. Used it many times on all the old girls switches including start switch. Works a treat. Even cleaned up the plastic switches and they look like new
