2007 R1200R starting/possible ignition switch issue

Hello - Own a '07 R1200R that's recently developed an issue where it will occasionally not do anything when the starter button is pressed. Once the key is turned on, it will cycle through the speedo/tach/engine display functions, and it will normally start but every once in a awhile, will do nothing once the starter button is pressed. No noise from a starter relay, and the instrument cluster lights stay on. On another forum it was suggested it was the ignition switch, is this a common problem that's came up here? Haven't had it die on me once it's running, but hoping to catch a problem before it gets worse. It doesn't display any "EWS" warning so I'm hoping that it isn't a ring antenna issue.

The clutch switch, gear position indicator, and side stand switch all have to agree that it's OK for the starter to spin.

Testing those parts is part of every scheduled maintenance:
(+) Function test, engine start suppression
(-) Function test, engine start suppression

NOTICE
Engine start is not enabled if you pull the clutch with a gear engaged before switching on the ignition.

Check
Set kill switch to centred position.
Select neutral.
Switch on the ignition.
Neutral telltale light "N" lights up.
Select a gear.
Neutral telltale light "N" goes out.
Press the starter button.
Starter does not operate.

Extend the side stand.
Pull the clutch lever.
Press the starter button.
Starter does not operate.

Retract the side stand.
Press the starter button without releasing the clutch lever.
Starter operates.

Next time you have a problem, put the bike in neutral, side stand up, turn on the ignition, and only then pull the clutch and press the starter button. That sequence should satisfy all the start suppression requirements even if one or more switch is giving false readings. If that works, you can start figuring out which of the safety switches is acting up.

I only have a problem when I squeeze the clutch before switching on the ignition while in gear, but I can't blame the bike for that.
