Sandiego VACA, what to do.

Going to San Diego at the end of the week for 5 days. Anyone in the area have suggestions?

Rental car, no bike. Wife and I.

Old Town: Cafe Coyote for breakfast. You can spend half a day in Old Town. Touristy, but very nice.

Near the airport: Shakespeare Pub. World's best fish n' chips, period. You'll be one of the few non-English people there.

If you find yourself out in Rancho San Diego, go to Hooley's, a great Irish pub.

The Embarcadero is nice for a sunset stroll.

If you want to drive up into the mountains, go to Julian for a slice of apple pie.

If you head east near El Cajon, you can cross into Tecate, Mexico. It's a neat little town. Have a nice lunch.

Balboa Park is worth a visit. They have a great automotive (& motorcycle museum) there. If you're zoo oriented, theirs is generally considered to be the best in the world.

Gaslamp Quarter for dinner. NO shortage of great bars and restaurants.

An afternoon in TJ is always a blast. Beware of free tequila and the cigars are not from Cuba.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. You can't really do San Diego in five days, there is so much to see and do. Bring a camera and a jacket.

For lunch, grab a sandwich at Point Loma Seafood. Outdoor patio, very casual right on the water.
One of those order at the counter type places. :eat

Got downtown San Diego as well as Balboa Park. Great aircraft museum there at the park! There are the usual tourist things like Sea World and the beach.
