Picked up my first airhead, a ‘83 R80RT, back in July. Needs some TLC but appears mostly OK, I cut my teeth on Shovelheads so I’m accustomed to some maintenance!
Looks best from 10 or more feet away but it’s been ridden regularly so paint chips are going to happen. Bought some side covers since the pic was taken.
Bluehole; I'll be over in Va., this winter and just maybe I could borrow the RS for a little riding on the PKWY. This is just between U and me on the down low.
Toured the country as a 20 something after college from Boston to Fairbanks on an R65 with a Vetter fairing, tent, sleeping bag and fishing rod and an MOA book with me all the way. I think I spent 2 out of 90 nights in a hotel. That was an amazing adventure. I picked up this 79 R100RS 20 yrs ago and have put less than 2000 miles since. I just retired and have put almost that many miles on this year. I just rejoined the club and am hoping to try that trip again. I am glad you folks are all here and looking forward to meeting many of you.
Welcome, Jack! That's a nice story and the trip should be fun to do again. If you have pictures and logs from the first trip, it would make for a nice trip report elsewhere in the forum of a sequence of then vs now pictures as you make your way on the trip.
