The 2026 National Rally... Eastern US : Essex Junction VERMONT... June 11-13 2026

The question that has not been asked to the rally chair or to the BOD. Is the MOA going bring back the self-run Beer Garden to bring profits back into the MOA, or does the membership keep paying for over price beer?

Been a while since I have seen an event location allow event organizers to sell alcoholic beverages. The sale and monitoring of alcoholic beverages requires a dynamic responsibility along with a rather expensive insurance policy.
This overhead dramatically increases costs which has to be passed on. We are now in the age of people that are hosting parties are purchasing a liability policy to (somewhat) protect themselves from the possible overindulgence of alcohol or other “party favors” :jose
If there is beer served, my guess it will be required to be served by the site and will be priced like a baseball or football game.

This is not a board / rally chair response. I'm just sharing information I've heard from the MOA volunteers that the last few rallies (like since I came on in 2019?) have been at venues that do not let us serve our own beer. sometimes it's state law, sometimes it's the expo center rules to flow money to local distributors and do their duty to create local jobs but it's an unequivocal "no" on legal / commerce grounds in recent memory to run our own beer garden. If you've hosted a wedding in the last 10 years, you'll probably have experienced the same thing where wedding venues will not allow BYO. Sometimes it's legal / insurance reasons and other times it's a state law to protect people from themselves..funny because I can get drunk at home and no one is telling me I can't (yet?) but serving people is another matter. I have no idea if the MOA wants to serve our own beer or if the profit was really there to carry the liability burden but thems' the rules and we have to abide by them..

I'll go first.
Mid June in Essex Junction (Burlington suburb) VERMONT.
The first rate Champlain Valley Exposition Center.
Why: We've been there before, the wheels still have grease...and THEY need our MOA attendance/tourism money.
It's a long way from Lebanon TN's "posing" Central Zone 2025 choice... allowing you to forget geographic rally boundaries!
Near guaranteed high attendance and Club revenue.

2006 was the last rally I attended before Springfield in 2022, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a chance to return to Essex Junction. I went up through Pennsylvania and New York (from Maryland) and enjoyed 100 in Vermont. I remember going out and riding in the rain and even going out at night to ride through some of the farmlands (not smart but boy was it fun!) I also remember watching dvd of Long Way Round when the rain got really heavy. Got over to New Hampshire and did the Kancamagus Highway and Mt. Washington. Fond memories. Looking forward to it,

If any of y’all git over to the North Conway area in New Hampshire, I can recommend Hurricane Mountain Road. It’s off route 16 just on the northern edge of town.

This road has a rather significant pucker factor….. but a real ride.

According to some research it's got really steep grades (17% with an average 10% grade) so that's definitely a pucker factor but not especially curvy. ADVrider has some useful info:

Just sayin'......
For those of us who don't own RVs and consider staying at a Motel 6 like camping I've been looking and looking and I'm not finding much, if anything, in the way of motels/hotels in Essex Junction VT. B&B/Air BNB but not much in the way of other accommodations. Soooooooo?????

Haven’t checked for lodging options in VT yet but the last rally in Essex Junction they had dorm rooms available at a local college at very reasonable rates. Hope they do the same next year.

Ed, that would be really great but I'm the sort who tries to have my reservation set up as far in advance as possible.....I know, therapy might be in order 😁

Thanks OM! Interesting that my search done on my "smart" phone didn't come up with any of these. Guess that's why you get the big money! ;)
