I have a 93 R100GS/PD which has an 8.5 gal capacity fuel tank. I was interested to see that the fuel capacity for this GSA is "only" 7.9 gallons.
Since I keep fuel records, I was getting 55 ± 2 MPG (US) on my KLR at 60 MPH. I'd fill up every 300 miles.Kawasaki KLR650/Fuel tank capacity- 6.076 gal
Half the engine displacement.

So, what do folks consider to be the acceptable full-tank range for a dual-sport adventure motorcycle??
I find 230-240 miles to be sufficient. Anyplace where fuel is more widely spaced than that I’m going to be carrying aux fuel anyway, and in the meantime I don’t care to deal with the extra bulk and weight of huge tanks. So, what do folks consider to be the acceptable full-tank range for a dual-sport adventure motorcycle??
I like 300+ miles and get that with my 1200GSA if I ride 55 MPH with on hardback is doable as in Yukon AK etc. That range is a necessity as some towns can be out of fuel too.... BTDT... Add 10-15 % more MPG's if you use non-ethanol... YMMVSo, what do folks consider to be the acceptable full-tank range for a dual-sport adventure motorcycle??
I don't know if that's enough. OMGHang in there!

The biggest issue I have is that BMW is loading the bikes with a lot of expensive electronic gadgets that have no business in Ike supposedly able to go anywhere . I dumped my BMW X5d rmthat I loved because it turned into a money pit due to electronics and mechanical failures.Well it is hereView attachment 98346
