Yosemite Ride Suggestions?

I live in Southern California and want to schedule a ride to Yosemite. Thing is, I've never been. Any suggestions on where I can go from there? It's a little close to my home (about a 1 day ride to get there). I would like to set up a 3-4 day ride that includes a tour of Yosemite National Park.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

First, don't miss the Glacier Point Overlook; the turnoff is maybe 6 miles north of the south entrance.

After Yosemite, you can do a criss-cross of the Sierra Nevada range - check your road atlas for routes 108, 4, 88, and 50; they're all good.

Route 89 on the west shore of Lake Tahoe is good; the "Kodak moments" are mostly right at the south-western end, use the turnouts. 89 will also take you to Mount Lassen, one of our active volcanoes. In that park, Bumpass Hell is worth the stop, it's like a miniature Yellowstone.

For some reason, the one restaurant in Markleeville is a popular stop, but I've always been very disappointed in the food and the service...

Route 49 is tight and fun in several places. Always a strong police presence on 89 and 49.

And watch out for the flat-landers...

Head outta town via 33 than assorted roads to Yosemite. Go through Mono pass to 395 then it's a left right decision. Fun to go right head back W at Kernville. Going left opens up either Utah or loop back over W into Norcal. Gazillion options most all good. Butler is a good source.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I'll be up there next weekend and will definitely take some of your suggestions. Thanks again.
