Windscreen Spoilers

:lurk
Puig touring screen on my 2018GS and not finding it a complete solution, have been contemplating OEM plus a spoiler…

The bike: 2018 R1200 GS

I'm curious what people's experience has been with windscreen spoilers such as this one from Touratech https://touratech-usa.com/store/Touratech-Evo-Windscreen-Spoiler. If I go this route, will I also need to get the windscreen support stabilizers also noted in some posts? I'm relatively tall, and I'm looking to get my head bit more out of the wind stream.

Bike 2018 R1200 GSA

I am 5'11 and wanted to try and get the wind and bugs up a little higher for a trip across SD a few weeks ago. I didn't want to spend a lot on a test and mounted this inexpensive one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C2KPCDKH?ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details&th=1

It does work easy on and off moved the wind and bugs up. I positioned it so the wind and bugs just went over my head. I would likely use again on long trips but not all the time.

Downsides: you have two big black anchor points in you line of vision, you can adjust so they are a bit lower but you still have them but kind of tune them out after a few miles.
It does put stress on the stock windshield and that is concerning. One OMG moment that I thought would rip my stock windshield in half, I90 across SD 80mph standard crazy cross wind passing a semi, so much buffeting that I took it off. It was OK with less cross wind but there is still buffeting that happens which is a long term concern.

hope this helps.

I bought one for cheap $$ off of eBay.

I used it for a while with my stock '14 GSA windscreen and it worked for me.

Eventually, I found this to be a better solution: Read the first post in this thread https://www.advrider.com/f/threads/...to-increase-windshield-default-angle.1082239/

Since installing this bracket which makes my windscreen stand up more vertically than stock I have removed the "wing" and still have air, rain, and bugs going over my head with the windscreen down in the lowest position.
