Who else besides me like beer in a can?

OOPS - I forgot "BILLY" Beer

I was a bit too your when you could get a cold 6-pack of "Billy". However, I do vaguely remember the promotional signs:"We got Billy!" at the Northside Grocery, where my friend and I would ride our bikes and look at the Playboys (untill we'd get booted by the guy at the counter).

I guess now we could get "Billary" beer. I wonder how that would taste?

I remember hearing a while back that an unopened 6 pack of Billy was worth 3 grand!

I'll take it many ways.

Early days....Natural Light.

Bounced around all the american macro brews for years.

In the Army we used to bong our beer before going out to the clubs. A 12 pack of the beast ICE was about 2.25. We would each bong a 12er and then head out. By the time we got to the clubs we were pretty well sloshed. Didn't really need to spend much money at the bars.

Then we started travelling to party. Went to a bar called Wild Wings on Hilton Head Island and me and my best friend worked our way around the bar. They had about 100 or so on tap. He got one, then I got one. We would try each others beer and either stick with it or trade until we finished the bar.

ROUGH NIGHT THAT WAS.

I went home with a buddy and some girls we met. He went back to the hotel and apparently wandered the halls eating other guest's discarded room service.

Then I moved to Colorado....Durango. At the time I think there were 4 or 5 microbreweries in town. I rediscovered my beer palate out there. Wonderful time.

Now....don't drink much at all. In the fridge currently are Sierra Nevada Porters. 12 of them. I like the dark beers. But I just don't drink much anymore.

I quit smoking several years ago now and just don't have beer much anymore since then.

I think I will.....nope can't tonight....I am on call. :dunno

i generally go the "shoot friend in face with fire extinguisher and get hotel evacuated" route when i've had that much to drink:laugh

ok, i would like to promote more beer culture here. so anyway, here's how my evening is stacking up:

the beer on the left is a "Baltika 8". it is a Russian brewed wheat beer in the traditional German style. Baltika was one of the largest breweries of the Soviet era and like much western imitation from that period, this beer leaves a bit to be desired in my opinion

the middle bear is a Lezajsk 1525 from Poland. it is a fairly cheap beer but (and i'm having my first one as i type) it is pretty good. kind of reminds me of a Polish Rolling Rock with a little less bite. pretty mild, but pretty tasty, this is decently good eastern european "lawnmower" beer at a reasonable price

the one on the end is a 7% beer from Scotland called Blackfriar. i'm guessing here, but i'm assuming it is going to taste like a burnt McEwan's 90 Export. Scotland has a hard time producing a bad beer and i'm hoping this is no different.

i'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow so i'm doing a bit of a PUI tonight. the replies to this may become more slurred as the night progresses:drink :drink :drink

Be careful climbing that ladder up to your loft after those beers!! Good luck on the wisdom tooth extraction. Let us know what novacaine feels like on a hang-over (or are you gonna skip the novacaine)?.

Count me in for a can of beer too!

I am in that 50+ age group and still prefer beer in a can. In fact for many years I kept a warm 6 pack of PBR in my saddlebag for emergencies. Even a warm beer in a sh*t situation tastes good.

;-):drink

I remember in the '80's when you were branded an insensitive hate monger if you drank Bitburger Beer. Bitte ein Bit!

It doesn't matter if the beer comes in a can or a bottle. It just doesn't have a decent taste unless it's poured into a glass. I actually find the taste of the beer to be so much different and better when drunk from a glass.

Most things will taste better if you get your nose involved to help you taste it.

Ugh! I'm getting my top two ripped from my face a week from now. I've put it off for many, many years. They won't go near the bottom ones, and I'm happy with that. Good news: the tops ones are already through; although sideways. Good luck with yours!!!!

Thick and bitter.

Goes best with the Hillary Pack from Kentucky Fried: Two thick thighs, two small breasts and a left wing. Free health care for the after effects though.

I pick up my GS tomorrow. I'll be in a better mood. Maybe.

I haven't had a beer since sunday, we had Miss Lillie's teacher visit tonight

luckily i've only got top ones, they're way, way out and i should have had them out 8 years ago, it will be a very easy procedure i think:deal

Had the wisdom teeth done under a general (all four) when I was 18.
About a 18 months ago had 4 teeth pulled under a local in advance of implants.

Assuming, Bubba, that you will be under a general let me give you these words of advice.

Find your happy place, find your happy place!!!

(Really, amongst life's experiences, it wasn't all that bad)

I like beer

I like all beers but some really excel to the:clap educated pallet. Ladies and Gents: Chimay! I need not say another word.

dentist said it was prob his easiest extraction of the year, i don't know why i waited nearly a decade:laugh

Metallic tastes are psychological. Beverage-cans are lined with an epoxy-coating to prevent reaction with the contents.

I used to buy canned Olympia back in college because I could afford it but it still wasn't from the big beer-factories (I refuse to call those behemoths breweries).

One of the best canned beers I have ever tasted is called Old Chub, a Scotch-ale made in Colorado. I think my fave is Belhaven, which you can get in a bottle or a can.
