What is this frame tab?

Hello all, is there a chance anyone may know off hand what this frame tab it for? This is an '82 R100RT.

Located just behind the frame's front left engine mount, is this L shaped tab, with small a ball joint. Is it possible this is intended for a side stand of some sort?

Very sorry (OP revised), this is an '82 R100RT.

Looks like a sidestand mount(?).

Gary is right. That should be the side stand mount. For the /7, the side stand mount was included with the bolt that holds the engine in.

See this picture of the '82 R100RT side stand. Notice the split end where the bolt goes through. Looks like this would fit over that tab you showed.
