What are you listening to today?

Speaking of David Bromberg, it reminded me to look for a PBS special that I have somewhere on cassette-

From posters collection of off-the-air recordings on VHS cassettes. This concert was aired by PBS stations on January 7, 1983. Tom's guest performers included Emmylou Harris, David Bromberg and David Buskin & Robin Batteau.

I used to look forward to Tom Rush and friends first of the new years concerts. Some good music. Thanks for the reminder to go looking again.

Buena Vista Social Club

A bit of an update.....
While I can't understand 98% of the words, unlike so much of recent music, I know there are words there.
I like the "Proud Talent" the Buena Vista Social Club brought out in their music and that the talent was shown to the world.
I hope the new musical does the music of the Buena Vista Social Club justice.

In 1996, a group of elderly, mostly forgotten Cuban musicians recorded an album that became a critical and commercial phenomenon worldwide. Now, the Grammy Award-winning "Buena Vista Social Club" has inspired a Broadway musical. Correspondent Martha Teichner talks with Cuban bandleader Juan de Marcos González about assembling the original players; writer Marco Ramirez and director Saheem Ali, about creating the imagined origin story of the musicians and their Havana nightclub; and journalist Judy Cantor-Navas, about how the infectious music of Cuba crosses boundaries.

Jesse Colin Young RIP - "Come on people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now."

Today after grilling some salmon outside I just sat at the entrance to my motorcycle garage with the door open. It was such an exceptionally pleasant day (except for the pollen). I'd taken a "pinkie" (aka Benadryl) to combat the runny nose and sneezing so no riding of the motorcycle. Rather, I just sat in my kermit chair and listened to some music.

This album, Twilight Motel by Alison Brown, is a favorite. I believe that she has made the entire album available on YouTube.

Peter Frampton featuring the “talk box”. The “talk box”, at this point was a hand built device created by Bob Heil- microphone genius.
